Hitting the Trenches to Find the Perfect Coat

The trench coat is no longer just a cover up for rainy weather. It is now the hottest and most versatile wardrobe piece this season.
The style is essential and classic and can also be contemporary and edgy. For that polished look, go for the double breasted style and pair it with wide leg pants and flats. For an edgier look, pick out metallic or printed fabric with 3/4 length sleeves and pair it with skinny jeans or a skirt with tights.

Shoes you will be wearing this spring

As we saw on the runways of Fashion week, Spring 2009 is all about the statement shoe. Colors, lace, ribbons, ruffles, bows, reptile skins and cutouts will adorn your shoes. This spring expect geometric shapes, pointy toes, square toes, round toes, stilletos, chunky heels, mesh and wire. For you simple fashionistas, don’t worry, you can still wear classic shoes but expect your pumps to be metallic or covered in snakeskin and your maryjanes will have a twist. This will be the season to buy that shoe you thought was too wild or didn’t think would work with anything else in your closet.

There were so many fierce and fabulous shoes showcased on the runway that I have to post half today and the other half Thurs. so make sure you stay tuned!

Presenting……your shoes for Spring 2009!

Lauren Conrad

Lauren Conrad’s Spring 2009 collection is exactly what I expected it to be, exactly what it has always been. There was no wow factor with this line but she does have some cute pieces and everything is wearable so even if her collection wasn’t avant-garde on the runway, she will still be able to sell every look from her show.

Lauren, wearing her own design, almost had a wardrobe malfunction at the end of her show.

Angela and Vanessa Simmons, looking real fab, were unexpectedly in attendance. Angela wore wedges from the Louis Vuitton Fall 2008 collection and Vanessa wore Christian Louboutin Anemone stiletto’s.

John Galliano Spring 2009

John Galliano’s Spring 2009 Collection was a little wild with models wearing historical war era headgear. After I got past the silliness, I was able to hone in on his designs. The models started out in mostly red and black then the colors became more spring and the flowers followed. I love the silhouettes of his dresses. The gowns flowed in the right places. Overall it’s a nice collection.

Chloé Spring 2009

Their were a lot of wearable pieces in the Chloé Spring 2009 collection. Definitely a line for a fun and flirty with girly silhouettes like scalloped edged jackets, 80’s jumpsuits and high waisted pants and shorts. The color palette was chartreuse, beige, cream, green, and apricot.

Balenciaga Spring 2009

The Balenciaga Spring 2009 was very futuristic as far as the cut and structure of the dresses is concerned. Some of them looked as if you wouldn’t be able to move your arms while wearing them. The metallic pieces stood out in a chic sci-fi kind of way which I loved. There were tunics, boxy jackets, slim pants and some kind of way, the tights were pulled over the shoes.

Salma Hayek was seated in the front row wearing a black Balenciaga dress and yes….that is her ex-fiance, Franciois-Heri Pinault, in the picture. Are they back on again?

Carolina Herrera Spring 2009

Designers are going bolder with the colors for the spring. The Carolina Herrera Spring 2009 collection proved that, as red was the major color of this collection. There were a lot of ruffles and the silhouettes were gorgeous on the gowns. The skirts and pants were pencil thin and there was a lot of shoulder baring going on.

Overall, I loved this collection and I could see myself wearing most of these pieces.

Renee Zellweger, who wears Carolina Herrera religiously, arrived in a tweed dress the designer made just for her.

Who knew tweed could be manipulated like that! I love the full skirt which is definitely on trend right now.

Calvin Klein Spring 2009

Geometric seemed to be the theme of Calvin Klein’s Spring 2009 collection.

Most of the pieces looked three dimensional with intricate pleats and folds.

The color pallette was mostly ivory, nude and little bit of polar blue.

Eva Mendes was seated in the front row wearing a Calvin Klein trapeze dress with grey shoes.

Serena Williams & Tyra Banks were also in the front row. Tyra looks great in red but her hair looks like its pulled back too tight.

3.1 Phillip Lim Fashion Week Spring 2009

These are my favorite pieces from the Phillip Lim Spring 2009 collection.

The colors were very neutral but he added a lot of detail to the garments, such as ruffles and fringe, taking them to the next level.

What I loved the most about this show were the flower petal Christian Louboutins.

All I can say is HOT!

Emmy Rossum was seated in the first row wearing a dress with Swarovski Crystals on the skirt from Philip Lim Fall 2008.

Her entire vibe speaks glamour.

Also in the front row was Leighton Meester wearing a Phillip Lim shift dress.
