Sydney Pollack, director of “Tootsie” dies

Sydney Pollack, director of notable films “They Shoot Horses Don’t They?” , “Tootsie”, “Out of Africa” and “Absence of Malice,” died at his home yesterday from cancer. He was 73.

Sydney was also a movie producer and actor filming his last role in “Made of Honor,” a romantic comedy currently in theaters, where he played the oft-married father of star Patrick Dempsey’s character.
