‘Law and Order’ star Dennis Farina arrested at airport

Former Law & Order actor and ex-Chicago police officer, Dennis Farina was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport today when security at the airport discovered a loaded .22 in his briefcase.

Farina, 64, told police he brought the .22 caliber, semi-automatic pistol with him on a drive from Arizona to Los Angeles and forgot it was in his briefcase when he tried to pass through airport security.

He was scheduled to take a United Airlines flight to his home in Chicago.

“Farina was very apologetic and cooperative with officers,” police said. “However, he had no apparent authority to carry a concealed weapon at the time of his arrest.”

The charges against Farina were upgraded to a felony and bail raised to $35,000 when it was discovered he had no permit for the gun.

He was also interviewed by FBI officials, but they declined to prosecute him since local police handled the case.

Prosecutors could reduce the charges to misdemeanors.
