Tim Montgomery’s New Record…3 Years in Prison

How can you go from being the “World’s Fastest Man” to facing major prison time for dealing heroin? Tim Montgomery shows you how.
The 33-year-old sprinter was arrested Wednesday on a sealed indictment, accused of dealing more than 100 grams of heroin in Virginia over the past year.
Montgomery said he knew nothing of the accusations and that his arrest was a “total surprise.”
“You get caught up in the achievements,” he said. “You get blinded and make really bad mistakes.”
Uh…huh
Montgomery is already facing sentencing May 16 in a New York-based check-fraud scheme where he is believed to receive at least 3 years in prison. He pleaded guilty in that case, admitting he helped his former coach, Olympic champion Steve Riddick, and others cash $1.7 million in stolen and counterfeit checks.
1.7 million??!!!
Montgomery retired from athletics in late 2005 after receiving a two-year ban for doping by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
