D.C. Madam Commits Suicide
Deborah Jeane Palfrey, 52, vowed never to go to prison and I guess she meant it.
Her body was found hanging from the ceiling in a shed at her mother’s home. Police said she left a suicide note, but they did not disclose its contents.
She was convicted by a federal jury on April 15 of running a prostitution service that catered to members of Washington’s political elite, including Sen. David Vitter, a Louisiana Republican. She was convicted of money laundering, using the mail for illegal purposes and racketeering.
Palfrey had denied her escort service engaged in prostitution, saying that if any of the women engaged in sex acts for money, they did so without her knowledge.
